Stella Blómkvist

Biography

A Stella Blómkvist bio isn’t an easy proposition, as the author behind this series of crime novels remains resolutely anonymous. The character of Stella in the books grew up in the east of Iceland, in a deeply acrimonious and possibly abusive relationship with her father, while her mother left to go and live in America. She went to college at Laugarvatn, and subsequently studied law, presumably at the University of Iceland, and set up her own legal practice, Stella Blómkvist Legal. She’s the single parent of her daughter Sóley Árdís – although the little girl’s parentage becomes apparent through the course of the books.

The person behind the books remains a mystery. We don’t know if this is a man, a woman, or (as seems possible) a partnership writing these carefully woven tales of crime and duplicity.
